MTS offers free broadband to Meru cab customers

MTS ,the mobile telephony brand of SSTL (Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd.) has launched a unique initiative for passengers traveling by Meru Cabs in New Delhi and Mumbai. The customers boarding Meru Cabs can  ask the cab driver for an MBlaze dongle to enjoy free internet surfing along with an unlimited data download.

Meru cab has gained substantial popularity in metros especially among business people. For such people having access to in transit wireless broadband is like a boon as they can utilize the time for checking mails and other important stuffs. So this initiative of MTS and Meru cab would certainly increase their popularity among the target customers.

Flagging off the MBlaze powered Meru Cabs, Leonid Musatov, Chief Marketing Officer, Sistema Shyam Teleservices Limited (SSTL), said, “At MTS, our endeavor is to constantly excite and delight data users. Nokia chooses Windows platform for future growth

Amidst the background of loosing market share and dwindling revenues Nokia has charted out new strategic direction to establish its leadership in a dynamic competitive environment. With Google’s Android platform claiming major portion of the pie in mobile handset market Nokia has decided to partner Microsoft to make Windows Phone as Nokia’s primary smartphone platform.

Nokia and Microsoft today announced plans to form a broad strategic partnership that would use their complementary strengths and expertise to create a new global mobile ecosystem.

Nokia and Microsoft intend to jointly create market-leading mobile products and services designed to offer consumers, operators and developers’ unrivalled choice and opportunity.  As each company would focus on its core competencies, the partnership would create the opportunity for rapid time to market execution.  Additionally, Nokia and Microsoft plan to work together to integrate key assets and create completely new service offerings, while extending established products and services to new markets.

Under the proposed partnership:

- Nokia would adopt Windows Phone as its principal smartphone strategy, innovating on top of the platform in areas such as imaging, where Nokia is a market leader.

- Nokia would help drive the future of Windows Phone.  Nokia would contribute its expertise on hardware design, language support, and help bring Windows Phone to a larger range of price points, market segments and geographies.

- Nokia and Microsoft would closely collaborate on joint marketing initiatives and a shared development roadmap to align on the future evolution of mobile products.

- Bing would power Nokia’s search services across Nokia devices and services, giving customers access to Bing’s next generation search capabilities.  Microsoft adCenter would provide search advertising services on Nokia’s line of devices and services.

- Nokia Maps would be a core part of Microsoft’s mapping services.   For example, Maps would be integrated with Microsoft’s Bing search engine and adCenter advertising platform to form a unique local search and advertising experience

- Nokia’s extensive operator billing agreements would make it easier for consumers to purchase Nokia Windows Phone services in countries where credit-card use is low.

- Microsoft development tools would be used to create applications to run on Nokia Windows Phones, allowing developers to easily leverage the ecosystem’s global reach.

Indian Telecom Industry marred from all sides

Investors are shunning the telecom scrips. Operators are worried over reduced profitability and enhanced competition. Aam Admi fed up with reading frontpage scam stories. CAG, A.Raja, TRAI, DOT,BlackBerry,  Kapil Sibbal ,mud slinging among operators blah.. blah.. blah.

Once cynosure of all eyes, now getting marred from all sides.Indian Telecom sector has contributed significantly in the overall growth of the country. Mobile telephony and internet have brought revolution. Even during economic recession time this was the one industry which was least affected and growing at its own pace unaffected.Indian government too was happy collecting huge revenue in terms of license fee and taxes.Many old  forgotten consumer electronics brands suddenly reappeared in the form of mobile handset brand. Consumers happy lot as telecom tariffs were the only thing which is getting cheaper day by day.

But too much of regulation, scams, government penchant towards killing the golden goose and excessive competition has ruined the industry. TRAI says that the companies will have to pay for extra spectrum held beyond 6.2 Mhz at market rate. Kapil Sibbal suggests that from now on license and spectrum won’t come together and both will be delinked. DOT asks operators to ban BlackBerry if doesn’t make interception ability available. Alleged scam by A.Raja has caused loss to government exchequer of lakhs of crore ruppes. Tariffs are at rock bottom level while government is planning to make every resource costlier for them. Now MNP is another worry for  for telecom operators. All of sudden everything has become so negative that if the government doesn’t handle this rationally ,this industry will loose its attractiveness.Now this industry is demanding some change in the status quo to keep itself afloat.

The Live Darshan service can be accessed by both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers across 14 major towns and cities in Gujarat where TATA DOCOOMO 3G Life services are available.

TATA DOCOMO subscribers can access Live Darshan service by selecting the ‘prayer’or‘Karaoke’ option which is a Video Calling application on the mobile device. The subscriber can access this service by dialing a video call at 5333319 from their 3G enabled handset and choose ‘Ambaaji’or ‘Somnath’ shrine and instantly get blessings of the deity by witnessing Live Darshan. This service is accessible while on roaming within the TATA DOCOMO 3G network between the temple opening to closing hours. The video calls are charged at 15 paisa/ second.
