Tata Docomo has inked a pact with IT major Megasoft XIUS for introducing Mobile Touch Transaction Solutions based on NFC (Near Field Communication).
This Mobile Touch Transaction solution will allow Tata Docomo customers to get anywhere,anytime electronic recharge ,bill payment and other VAS in self service mode.It doesn’t require internet access or loggin in to any website for that. Rather it works like this. Active posters or APs which are a paper thin electronic self service devices will be placed at various locations like coffee shops,Railway stations, airports or any other outlets. This AP will work as card reader and execute the commands given by customers.
Initially the services like top up recharge,bill payment,download of ringtones and wallpapers will be introduced.This solution will enhance the retail touchpoints and convenience for the customers.
What is NFC (Near Field Communication): This solution (Mobile Touch Transaction) works on Near Field Communication technology. In this technology when the devices are brought into vicinity, they recognize each other and transactions can be done. The smartcards being used in Delhi Metro trains work on this technology.NFC is a short range high frequency wireless communication technology which enables the exchange of data between devices over about a 10 centimeter distance.
